October 5 – Dawn states that Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that there can be no progress in the Afghan peace process without involving Pakistan and this cooperation can only be gained in a friendly manner. In a wide-ranging news conference at the end of his 10-day visit to the United States, Mr Qureshi pointed out that Pakistan had a 70-year-old relationship with America, which should not be viewed through “Afghanistan’s prism”.
